On-Demand Digital Temperature Sensor
The On-Demand Digital Temperature Sensor
Like the Flow Sensor, the Digital Temperature Sensor provides real-time feedback to the Control Panel about the return line temperature. If the loop is hot when a demand occurs there is no reason to move the water. The city water pressure will move the water toward the low pressure area (i.e., open faucet) without the need for additional force.

There are 2 benefits to not moving hot water. First hot water in motion tends to lose energy faster than hot water that is not moving. Second, when the chemicals in water are heated up they become very corrosive. 90% of all leaks occur on the hot water side of a delivery system. If is hot, we don't move it.

Our Digital Temperature Sensor allows adjustment of loop temperature in 1 degree F increments. It also allows us to expand or shrink the differential temperature range (the difference between when a pump will be turned on and when it will be turned off.
Here are a few of the characteristics of our Digital Temperature Sensor:

Why A Simple Aquastat Does Not Work
A simple Aquastat has a one setting. Aquastats are used to control the temperature of the water in a storage tank. Once the temperature level in the storage tank reaches a preset level the Aquastat tells the boiler to shut off. When the water drops about 5º F below the preset level the Aquastat will turn the boiler back on.

The 5º F temperature differential is to prevent the boiler from turning on and off every time the temperature changes by 1º. Unfortunately it is difficult to set the actual desired temperature very precisely. The dial pictured here is from a standard Aquastat. As you can see it has gradations every 5º. The accuracy of a typical Aquastat is ± 5º F.

Accurately controlling the loop temperature can increase energy conservation by 10% to 15%. Our Digital Temperature Sensor eliminates the guess work which means you save more.
